Our Class Registration Policy

 

Register by either phone or in person. WE DO NOT ACCEPT EMAIL REGISTRATIONS FOR CLASSES!!

 

To register for a class, you must prepay the class fee at which time you will be given a supply list for things needed to participate in the class. The class fee is for instruction only. No materials are included in the class fee. The fee is refundable if you let us know one week prior to the beginning of the class or if the class is canceled for lack of participation. If you do not let us know one week prior to the class starting, the fee is not refundable.

Tooth and Nail

(B+) Learn how to make this stunning spiky quilt made of simple shapes, flying geese, half square triangles, and geese and corner beams. We will be using the Deb Tucker Corner Beam ruler to make the corners with ease. Make these 16" blocks from your favorite fabrics, a light fabric and a background "pop" fabric.

Stepping Stones

(B) Learn basic paper-piecing techniques with this pattern.  If you can stitch on a straight printed line you can complete this pattern.  It is easily completed in traditional colors or contemporary colors.

Walking Foot Only Machine Quilting

(B) Are you scared of dropping the feed dogs and trying some free-motion quilting? Come join Elaine Poplin and set yourself free as she shows you some basic filler designs and guides you through how to plan and mark your quilts for quilting on your home machine

Strips as Sour Dough Starters

(B+) If you've wanted to dabble in improvisational or a "modern" look but aren't fully comfortable with working without a plan or a pattern, then this is the class for you! You will start with 2.5"x WOF" strips in 10-20 fabrics (a good way to use left over fabric) plus a background tonal or solid fabric, and Elaine will show you fun ways to combine strips into strata that can be used to bring new excitement to your favorite traditional settings. Elaine is leading 3 sessions and you can come to one or all three. Note that the class fee is per session.

Level: adventurous beginner to intermediate. There are examples of Elaines work using this method in the classroom at the shop. Check it out.!

12 Days of Christmas
Wool Felt Ornaments

(B+) In this workshop twelve wool felt ornaments will be made using Larissa Holland’s 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMASpatterns. Meeting once a month for 6 months, two new ornaments will be worked each month.  Participants will learn the basics of wool applique and how to use embroidery and texture to bring the ornaments to life.  All workshop sessions will meet from 10am – 2pm in the class room at Patches and Stitches on the 3rd Saturday of the month beginning Saturday May 19th and ending on October 20th.

The workshop sessions will be led by a volunteer team including:  Audra Kennedy, Lisa Marshall, Judy Balance, Nonda Sloan and Susan Nolen with guest appearances by some of the best Woolies around.

 

A $5.00 kit is included in the fee and will be provided at the first session.
