Our Class Registration Policy

 

Register by either phone or in person. WE DO NOT ACCEPT EMAIL REGISTRATIONS FOR CLASSES!!

 

To register for a class, you must prepay the class fee at which time you will be given a supply list for things needed to participate in the class. The class fee is for instruction only. No materials are included in the class fee. The fee is refundable if you let us know one week prior to the beginning of the class or if the class is canceled for lack of participation. If you do not let us know one week prior to the class starting, the fee is not refundable.

Quilt Making 101

(B) Get started the right way—learn the easiest, fastest, best ways to make a quilt by machine.  Create stars as you learn the basic building blocks of patchwork.  Great tips taught all along the way.  Your quilt will be ready to hand or machine quilt by the last class—really!

One Block Wonder

(B+) Are you scared of hexagon quilts because of possible y-seams?  Then this could be for you because there are no y-seams.  You will learn how to stack and cut your fabric to get the kaleidoscope effect you want.  The first class will focus on cutting your fabric and beginning to put your hexagons together.  The second class will be spent seeing the “magic” happen with the design.

(B+) ) Learn how to make this stunning spiky quilt made of simple shapes, flying geese, half square triangles, and geese and corner beams. We will be using the Deb Tucker Corner Beam ruler to make the corners with ease. Make these 16" blocks from your favorite fabrics, a light fabric and a background "pop" fabric.

Walking Foot Only Machine Quilting

(B) This class will help you become comfortable using your walking foot to create basic lines, shapes, curves and motifs.  We cover machine needles, thread choices, marking tools, batting types and how to prepare your quilt for quilting.

Fearless Improv

(B+) If you want to try your hand at piecing without a plan but would welcome a tour guide through the process, then this is the class for you! We will try straight piecing, curved piecing, a combination of the two, and learn how to manage construction challenges as we work. The evening will start with each student working through a simple sketch process, and then each will begin constructing a small improvisational piece based on (or inspired by) that sketch. Graph paper and plain paper will be provided for the sketch process, depending on your preference. You can be as realistic or as abstract as you wish in your sketch, measure as much or as little as you’d like, or just go with your creative flow and see what happens.

Look Ma! No Pattern

(B+) If you’ve been wanting to try your hand at designing your own quilt projects but have always been afraid to jump in, this class will help you find a comfortable place to start. We will use simple quilt block structures and play with various arrangements that utilize color, value, and tension to create the desired impact. Instructor will provide mini-design walls for use during class to assist with design ideas. We will discuss ways to dive deeper into improvisational work, as well has how to correct small flaws in piecing without having to start over. You will go home with enough components for a small art piece, or the seedlings for a larger project.

(B) Are you scared of dropping the feed dogs and trying some free-motion quilting? Come join Elaine Poplin and set yourself free as she shows you some basic filler designs and guides you through how to plan and mark your quilts for quilting on your home machine.

Felt Ornaments

(B) This wool appliqué pattern for a beautiful Christmas ornament features 4 motifs, full instructions, pattern template, supply list and more. Audra designed this ornament to be a 4" ball or you could make each motif separately for another interesting option. Each motif uses basic embroidery stitches on wool fabric. Kits will be offered with colors as shown.
